A former collegiate football and tennis athlete, David brings a performance-driven approach to rehabilitation that is highly individualized to each patient’s goals.
His career has included working with professional athletes, executives, and patients across a wide range of functional abilities. He has also served as a private physiotherapist on the ATP Tour for American professional tennis players and holds advanced credentials in strength and conditioning, dry needling, spinal manipulation, and osteopractic practice.

Sarah Backus
PT, DPT, CDN
Dr. Sarah Backus is a Doctor of Physical Therapy specializing in pelvic health and orthopedic rehabilitation, with additional certification in advanced manual lymphatic drainage for plastic surgery patients. With a background in dance and movement, she brings a holistic, fitness-forward approach to care—combining advanced orthopedic knowledge with an understanding of how the pelvic floor and lymphatic systems connect to whole-body recovery.

With almost a decade dedicated to pelvic rehabilitation, Sarah provides highly individualized care for women and men across the lifespan. Her expertise includes pelvic pain and dysfunction, pregnancy and postpartum recovery, incontinence, bowel dysfunction, low back and hip pain, as well as specialized lymphatic support following plastic surgery.

In addition to clinical practice, Sarah serves as adjunct faculty at Midwestern University and contributes to community education on pelvic floor health.

Cory Smith
PT, DPT
Dr. Cory Smith is a Doctor of Physical Therapy with advanced training in manual therapy and extensive experience in orthopedic rehabilitation, mobility, and performance. A lifelong athlete, Cory played collegiate basketball before continuing his career professionally in Europe—an experience that continues to shape his performance-minded approach to rehabilitation.

Cory earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from the University of St. Augustine for Health Sciences, with a specialized focus in manual therapy. Since 2014, he has practiced across eight states and a variety of clinical settings, treating patients with a broad range of orthopedic and medical conditions.

His approach extends beyond simply treating an injury. Cory integrates manual therapy, movement, strength, exercise, and lifestyle considerations to address the individual as a whole.
Whether the goal is returning to high-level performance or simply restoring mobility and independence after surgery, his care is centered around helping each patient return to the activities that matter most to them.

Trent Kucera

Dr. Trent Kucera is a Doctor of Physical Therapy and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with expertise in orthopedic rehabilitation, strength, and performance. A former collegiate basketball player and three-year team captain, Trent’s background in athletics shaped his early interest in human movement, exercise, and anatomy.

Trent earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science and later returned to his undergraduate alma mater, North Park University, to lead strength and conditioning for the men’s basketball program. His clinical approach combines rehabilitation with strength and performance principles to help patients restore function and return confidently to the activities that matter most to them.

Trent is also certified in dry needling and blood flow restriction training. His patient-centered approach is tailored to the individual—whether that means returning to sport, rebuilding strength after surgery, or improving mobility and independence.
