Spine Surgery Post-Op Recovery

Your spine surgery is only the beginning. What happens after you return home can shape the experience of your early recovery.

The Recovery Practice brings private post-operative nursing and concierge physical therapy directly to your home, creating one coordinated recovery experience from discharge through your transition to outpatient rehabilitation.

Your nurse. Your physical therapist. Your recovery equipment. Your plan.

All arranged in one place.

Your First Days Home, Fully Supported

Returning home after spine surgery can bring new challenges, particularly when everyday movements suddenly require more care. From managing medications and discomfort to getting in and out of bed, dressing, bathing, navigating stairs, following lifting or movement restrictions, and monitoring your incision, even routine activities can feel more complicated during the first days home.

You shouldn’t have to manage recovery on your own.

Our Registered Nurses provide one-on-one support through the immediate post-operative period, helping you navigate your surgeon’s precautions safely and confidently. When you’re cleared to begin rehabilitation, our Doctors of Physical Therapy guide your recovery according to your surgeon’s protocol and your individual progress.

Together, we create a seamless transition from hospital discharge to recovery and rehabilitation at home.

Concierge Physical Therapy Comes to You

When your surgeon recommends beginning physical therapy, there's no need to immediately navigate transportation and repeated trips to an outpatient clinic.

We bring the PT clinic to you.

Your therapist evaluates your mobility, strength, gait, functional limitations, and recovery goals while following your surgeon's post-operative protocol.

For spine surgery patients, a typical early-recovery plan may include five to ten in-home physical therapy visits.

Your exact plan is individualized based on your surgeon's recommendations, physical therapist's assessment, and recovery progress.

A Higher Standard of In-Home Rehabilitation

Your physical therapy isn't simply about completing exercises.

Our therapists can incorporate advanced hands-on techniques, rehabilitation modalities, and recovery technology based on your individual needs, stage of healing, and surgeon’s post-operative protocol. When clinically appropriate, these modalities are incorporated into your treatment plan at no additional cost.

Treatment may include therapeutic exercise, functional mobility and transfer training, postural and movement retraining, progressive strengthening, soft-tissue and scar mobilization, balance and gait training, and other advanced manual therapy techniques. When appropriate and cleared within your post-operative protocol, treatment may also incorporate dry needling and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM).

The goal is simple: restore mobility, restore function, and help you return confidently to the activities you enjoy.
